What To Do After You Write A Blog Post?

You have just finished writing a remarkable blog. But what should you do you after you write a blog post?

In reality the only people that will know that you have written a new blog is those that have subscribed. Rather than just rely on search volume to pump up your visitors, content publishers need to promote to make sure it is picked up by key influencers and your ideal customers.

1. Keyword optimise your post

Scan through your post and type some of the topics into free keyword tool ubersuggest. Once you have primary keyword – include it in your page title, content and meta-description.

2. Share content on relevant social media sites

Make sure you have set up your social media accounts. If you have not then download this free guide. To share across multiple social media sites use a free tool such as Hootsuite or Buffer.

3. Shorten your posts URLs

A lot of social media tools such a Hootsuite etc. offer this function. Another idea is to use bit.ly. With an account you can customise your own shorten URL. For example Hubspot’s Dharmesh shorten his to dharme.sh

4. Comment on other blogs

Providing insightful and helpful comments on people’s blogs can be a great way to generate traffic, develop relationships, build a following and add backlinks.

5. Seek and assist on Twitter

Listen to people posting on Twitter you can set up a feed in Hootsuite to see what people are tweeting about certain topics/hashtags and then reply with a helpful comment or link to a blog, if you have one.

 6. Add to email signature

Another powerful little technique is to add your latest blog post headline and hyperlink to your email signature. Many email platforms have apps such as Wisestamp for Gmail that will put your blog post in your email signature automatically.

7. Share your blog post with your database

If you have created a blog post that your persona would be interested in then make sure you share it with them in your lead nurture emails

8. Add your blog post to your next newsletter

This is a good way to measure the success of the blog headline by viewing how many clicks it gets.

9. Ask other bloggers  to mention your post

Build a relationship with other bloggers in your space and ask them to blog about or link to your post as this can be a great way of increasing your Klout score.

These are just some tips that you can do to get more people reading your blog post but if you want more recommendations get a marketing audit.
